My Mission
I have always loved a good movie and from time to time have even enjoyed some decidedly bad ones. I am a college student In Georgia and I am a History major with a film studies minor. In a recent class my professor told us of the French New Wave. This movement sparked change around the world in film. One of the front-runners of this movement was Jean-Luc Godard. during the occupation of France by the Nazis, they were essentially cut of from the outside world and were not allowed to produce any films that might damage the cause of the Germans. upon the liberation of France, the country was literally flooded with films from around the world that had been made during the occupation. Godard and other aspiring film-makers such as Francois Truffaut, would spend all day in theaters trying to catch up on what they had missed out on. Godard reportedly viewed over 1000 films in a year. this intrigued me because that is a lot of movies. I decided to myself why not give it a try. So here I am. I have decided to ring in the new year with a quest. Starting January 1st 2009 I will begin my journey towards 1000 films in one year. I will view no repeats. so that is 1000 individual films. I will rely on suggestions from any one who may happen to read this blog. if i have no one then I will simply move right along myself. i will post important information about each film, and if i am really wowed maybe ill even write a full review. I dont claim to be the only blog of this nature on the web. im sure there are plenty. but im not doing this for anyone else. im curious to see if I can do this and how it might affect me to do so. this will not be easy as I have work, school, and my family. this will be tough but i think it will be doable. i have to watch an average of 2.74 movies per day. i dont plan on watching that many every day but i will average out and i predict a success. I am excited as this A. my first Blog, and B. I love movies. thanks for reading and wish me luck.
